Check how spammy any website's backlink profile looks (0–100) before you chase a citation, guest post, or backlink. A risky site wastes your effort, and it can drag your own trust down.
Spam Risk estimates what share of a website's backlinks come from spammy or low-quality sources, on a 0–100 scale. The higher it is, the more the links pointing to that site look manipulative or junky (link farms, scraped directories, hacked pages). It's a read on how trustworthy the site's link profile is, not its content.
Why it matters: AI models and search engines lean on sites with clean, trustworthy link profiles when deciding who to cite. Earning a mention or backlink from a high-Spam-Risk site is wasted effort, and it can pull your own trust down by association.
Rule of thumb: lower is always better. A low score isn't a blank cheque, because even a modest number is worth a look before you commit real effort to a site. The bands are a guide, not a pass/fail.
